Soccer Story

A Special Soccer Story

We have had three grandchildren involved in the Forest Heights soccer program and my son and daughter-in-law have both given time as coaches. We know how wonderful soccer can be in the lives of children and families. My husband, Neil, and I volunteered for six weeks this year for Keiskamma Trust in a small village in the eastern cape of South Africa. It is a very poor area with nothing in the way of recreation facilities; We wish to give our deep thanks to the Forest Heights Community Soccer League for donating four soccer balls for us to take with us.  The joy the soccer balls brought was tremendous. The boys in the photos are from an after school program in Lovers Twist operated by Keiskamma Trust for AIDS orphans. Thanks again for the soccer balls that brought so much enjoyment. If you want to know more about Keiskamma and the work it does check out www.keiskamma.org and keiskammacanada.com.

With deep appreciation,
Marilyn Scott
