I need to let you all know about the Paul Johnson Soccer Festival or sometimes called the PJ Tournament or even the PJT. It is a 27 year old festival that celebrates soccer in our zone. Every mini team (U6-U12) in the South East zone is invited.
The format is that the festival takes place the Father Day weekend mainly at Kenilworth community league. You may or may not have been aware that the season is broke up into 3 rounds. The second was just completed and for most of you (not U6) you were re-tiered into a more appropriate tier based on your record. The record from the main round is used to form the tiering for the Paul Johnson Round. We still do not crown, but I aim to set teams up against each other that make as even a game as possible; I love ties.
Friday night - U10 and U12 at Avonmore and Kenilworth
Saturday 9-4 - U10 and U12 at Avonmore and Kenilworth U8 at Kenilworth
Sunday 9-2 - U6 and U8 at Kenilworth and U10 and U12 at Avonmore and Kenilworth
A note for U6 & U8 - for this tournament only, we go back to the two equal halves with no practice. This is where they get to show off what they have learned over the season.
This is a very good time and also a great weekend for teams to have a quick year end party.
I have fallen in love with the PJT. My kids worry that I like it more than Christmas, and they might be right. I love to walk on a Saturday morning, across the Kenilworth field with 500+ players, 500+ spectators, officials and refs yelling, working hard and generally having a great time.
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail and I will do what I can to answer them.
Thanks
